Flag Communications expands into Japan and took the stage at SB’26 TOKYO-Marunouchi

Flag Communications has formally expanded into Japan following the appointment of Ritsuko Arakaki as Japan Market Director, as Flag responds to accelerating demand for sustainability, integrated reporting and communications designed to connect with global audiences.

This expansion is framed against a fast-evolving disclosure landscape. Flag notes that Japan has released its first ISSB-aligned sustainability disclosure standards (SSBJ), with mandatory application for companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime market planned to begin rolling out from FY27. Flag also recognises the requirement, in place since April 2025, for Prime-listed companies to publish key disclosures in both Japanese and English—an increasingly important step for transparency with international investors.

Arakaki’s remit is described as building Flag’s local presence and leading regional growth, supporting organisations as they move beyond compliance toward clearer, more investor-facing sustainability narratives.

Flag’s momentum in-market was also visible at SB’26 TOKYO-Marunouchi, where CEO Victoria Taylor delivered the plenary session “Engaging your global audience with high-impact sustainability reporting” on 18 February 2026.

SB’26 TOKYO-Marunouchi was a two-day Sustainable Brands conference, hosted by Sinc Inc. and co-hosted by Sustainable Brands, PBC, bringing together sustainability leaders and major brands for sessions, workshops and structured networking at the Tokyo International Forum.
