Catalis Group has today announced the sale of its subsidiary Curve Games to Nazara Technologies Limited, India’s only listed video games company.
Curve Games, the award-winning UK games publisher, which counts smash hit titles Human Fall Flat and Badlands Crew among its portfolio, joins the Mumbai-based games and esports group, marking its largest international acquisition to date, but will continue to operate autonomously.
As an award-winning independent publisher specialising in ‘Triple I’ games, Curve Games has developed strong relationships with major industry partners with a particular focus on PC, console and Switch titles having clocked over 100 million downloads globally. Within the Group, first-party IP with development studios IronOak (“For the King” franchise) and Runner Duck (“Crew” franchise) as well as an extensive back catalogue provides solid foundation for future expansion.
Curve Games’ Executive Chairman Stuart Dinsey said: "This deal is a perfect fit. We’re joining a group that lives and breathes games and tech – including mobile, where we’ve barely scratched the surface. With Nazara, we will build on our strengths across console and PC, staying true to our indie spirit. It's still about great games, great studios, and great players. Our next chapter starts here.”
Catalis Group Chair Sharon Baylay added: “We’ve been proud to have Curve Games, a multi-award-winning publisher of great indie games, within our group. However, we know that they will take their successes to a new level as part of Nazara Technologies. We are grateful for the contribution of the Curve Games team, and we wish them well on the next stage of their journey.”
Nazara Technologies CEO Nitish Mittersain offered: “Curve’s proven publishing expertise and strong track record with indie studios make them a perfect fit for Nazara’s vision in premium gaming. This acquisition not only brings valuable IP, global market access, and a highly experienced team into our fold – it also reflects our broader strategy of doubling down on core gaming. We’re committed to scaling high-quality game IPs, investing in new development, and supporting passionate indie creators as we build a global gaming powerhouse from India.”
Curve Games has recently released the Steam Top 10 game Badlands Crew and arriving this summer is Human Fall Flat: Test Chamber, the next update in the 55 million-selling Human Fall Flat series, plus Wobbly Life on Nintendo Switch.
Publicly-traded Nazara Technologies last year revealed its commitment to expand its ambitions in games development and publishing via mergers and acquisitions, earmarking a $100 million fund to achieve its goals. It acquired Fusebox Games – which is based in Guildford, UK and specialises in creating games based on TV IP – last summer.
